Cassius Rayner
I'm Cassius Rayner. I have been making films for more than 20 years. I was a director and camera operator for many years working on a variety of productions for Sky, ABC, PBS, FilmFour and Channel 4, BBC 2, Meridian News and various digital channels. Since 2014 I have dedicated my professional career to mobile filmmaking and have been fortunate to work with leaders in this field including Filmic Pro, Apple, Sony and Zhiyun. I have produced documentaries, drama and music videos, winning 14 International Film Awards and I've gained extensive experience working on locations in Africa, South America, China, Hong Kong and Europe.

How long do I have to complete the course?You have life time access so you can take as much time as you need. I would suggest that you try and find the time to complete the course in one go, this will help with motivation and engage you to want to get onto the next film.

Is the course value for money?I can guarantee you that you will be getting way more than what you paid for. This course is worth 10x what is being charged. But there is a genuine reason the cost is low. We want everybody, no matter what their background is and what country they are in, the opportunity to afford it and be a part of it.

Is this course designed for content creator?In general the answer is no. This course is designed for those that want to explore filmmaking and/or want to become a filmmaker with a passion to have a career in it. This course will teach you how to shoot a cinematic visual narrative story. I do not teach you how to shoot better video for general social media use.

Will there be other courses?Yes, you will be the first to know on new courses arriving and will automatically be offered a discount as a paid member. In 2025 we will be brining Smart Mini Doc 101, Smart Music Video 101, Smart Business Promo 101, Smart Events 101 and a lot more.

What type of phone do I need?You don't need the latest model phone at all. As long as your phone has 4k resolution and is able to download Blackmagic camera app (which is FREE) then you are all set to go. Extra bonus would be that you phone has at least 2 lenses I.E wide lens and telephoto lens.

Do I need any special gear?The intro video will explain that it would be best practise to have a phone case or a filter holder so that you can attach an ND filter. All explained in the video.

What if I've never filmed before?That's ok, everyone, no matter their level of experience will be taught a unique structure and template by me that everyone can follow from scratch.
